The Apollo 11 mission in 1969 was a historic milestone in the history of space travel. The first manned moon landing took place and the astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins became heroes. It is fascinating that there are also gold medals that celebrate this event.
We have here a 900 gold medal weighing approximately 31.9 grams (1,125 ounces) and it depicts the Apollo 11 mission and the moon landing.
On one side, the astronauts Armstrong, Collins and Aldrin are depicted and inscribed as well as the hallmark 900. On the other side is the astronaut with the inscription FIRST MAN ON THE MOON - 21.57 h - JULY 20. 1969
This medal is a valuable collector's item and a symbol of the human pioneering spirit and the discovery of space.
